In 2023, Metagenics had the goal of further expanding into the Functional Medicine space by opening two brick and mortar clinics. The clinics were supported by a EMR software that would give live feedback and results on the patients health during their visit. We also developed an app so the patient could access their results on their phone.

Real Time Health Data
During the visit, the patient would go through a series of Functional Medicine tests and questionnaires, then their data would be complied and shown back to them on a TV inside the office.

Ipad Controller and Portal
The software for the visit was controlled in office by the staff, and there was also a back end portal that held all of the patient data and settings.

Intake Questionnaires
Once a visit was booked, the patient would be sent a series of digital questionnaires to fill out. This replaced the traditional paper questions you normally answer when you go to the doctors office. Some of the questionnaire data would be used to populate the patients results on the TV display.

Hybrid App
There was also an app that allowed the patient to view and manage their results, make appointments, as well as receive personalized recommendations from the practitioner.

Conclusion
This was one of my favorite and most challenging projects. There were 4 different environments to design and manage. The TV display and ipad that controlled it, the app, and the back end portal. The best part, and where I learned the most, is that we had a constant flow of user feedback. We were constantly designing, building and deploying new features into a live Functional Medicine office and then getting feedback from the patients as well as the office staff who used the software on a daily basis. Hectic and fast paced, but also really fun and rewarding.
